I either entirely don’t have the ability to participate or I am forced to give up on fighting for my human rights to serve my community because I am stuck between choosing to help a charity and remaining unaccepting towards hatred. I think one of the most dangerous myths about college in general is that it has to be “the best four years of your life.” It puts pressure on students who are already pushing themselves to stay on top of work and start planning for their future, to make sure they have the perfect social life. However, the recent move to impeach the GSO president because of her advocacy for students’ concerns is deeply disturbing for me to witness. She was advocating on the behalf of graduate students who have concerns about unionizations and the implications, including myself. Read more »
