The NotebookStarring: Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Gena RowlandsWhy it’s worthy:We’ve gotta say it: Nicolas Sparks (author of ‘The Notebook’) is one of the top 10 most nauseating romance writers of all time. Even the books with Fabio on the cover are more intelligently written. We suppose this movie is set up semi-interestingly (what with the flashbacks and all), but we’re not exactly driven to tears. If you like sobbing on Valentine’s Day weekend over your one true love, however, this movie is probably for you. Gag.
P.S.Starring: Laura Linney, Topher Grace, Marcia Gay HardenWhy it’s worthy:Given some of the female heavy-hitters, it’s surprising ‘P.S.’ didn’t get more public recognition. However, after reading the plot summary, it sounds quite a bit like that weird movie ‘Birth’ with Nicole Kidman where she falls in love with someone way too young for her. Not that falling in love with someone reincarnated is creepy or anything.
Shark TaleStarring: The voices of Will Smith, Robert De Niro, Renee Zellweger, Angelina JolieWhy it’s worthy:Imagining any cartoon with the voice of Jolie is pretty much hilarious, and there are a lot of awesome comic talents in this film, although we still wish De Niro would stop doing comedy and get back to his bloody roots. Oh wait ― this movie is about mobster sharks. Nevermind. Although one of the sharks is a vegetarian, which doesn’t really make sense.
