Syracuse has hired Dave Boller to be the new director of player personnel, SU athletics announced Thursday afternoon in a press release. Boller will also work with the Orange on identifying and attracting high school recruits.

Boller was most recently at Louisville, where he was the director of high school relations. He was also the Cardinals’ NFL liaison and director of on-campus recruiting.

“Dave has a tremendous eye for talent,” SU head coach Dino Babers said in a press release. “He was in the NFL for a long time. That experience, those contacts, and the knowledge he gained by being in a college setting, will only help us get better.”

Boller is a former NFL scout with 13 years of experience, working with the New York Jets, then-St. Louis Rams, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also assisted the Detroit Lions’ front office.

Boller’s career began at Arizona State, where he worked as the director of football operations. Both Boller and Babers worked together at ASU from 1985-1986 before Babers left for Eastern Illinois.

CORRECTION: In a previous version of this post, Dave Boller’s position at Arizona State was misstated. Boller worked as the director of football operations at Arizona State. The Daily Orange regrets this error.
