Junior forward Alysha Burriss and the Orange dominated Penn State, 5-1, in the seasons penultimate game.

Syracuse (14-12-5, 13-4-2 College Hockey America) continued its strong push towards the CHA playoffs with a 5-1 rout of Penn State (9-19-5, 8-9-2) Friday afternoon at Pegula Ice Arena in University Park.

Five minutes into the second frame, Syracuse’s Savannah Rennie scored the first goal of the game — her seventh of the year. With under two minutes left in the period, Rennie scored again to give SU a 2-0 lead after two periods.

Penn State answered quickly, scoring its only goal 25 seconds into the third. The Orange answered five minutes later with a goal by Allie Munroe.

Then Sarah Stuehr scored her first career goal — her first point of the season — to put the game out of reach. Stephanie Grossi scored with under five minutes remaining to make it 5-1.

Senior starters Jessica Sibley and Heather Schwarz did not play in the game. Sibley was out with an undisclosed injury and Schwarz is in Connecticut for a family matter and did not travel with the team.

Emily Costales led the team with three points on three assists and Abbey Miller saved 16 out of the 17 shots she faced.

Syracuse faces Penn State tomorrow at 2 p.m. in University Park in both teams’ regular-season finales.
