Pete Sala, vice president and chief campus facilities officer, said in an email sent to the Syracuse University community on Monday that construction for the University Place promenade is progressing on schedule.

Continued construction on the University Place promenade is on schedule, according to a summer construction update Pete Sala, vice president and chief campus facilities officer, sent to the Syracuse University community on Monday.

In the Quad 2 Parking Lot, the new driveway road base has been prepared, a retaining wall has been built and electrical infrastructure improvements are almost complete, Sala said in the email. The Quad 2 Parking Lot is being renovated as part of the University Place promenade construction.

Sala said in the email that water main installation along University Place for the promenade will be completed this week. Hardscape installation, drainage and re-grading work are now underway.

Over the summer, SU is working on completing more than 120 campus construction projects. Here are the other construction updates Sala included in his email:

Classroom and auditorium improvements: Classroom technology improvements are proceeding on schedule in Lyman Hall, Watson Auditorium, Room 032 in Eggers Hall and other locations.

Crouse College Bell Tower improvements: In conjunction with periodic maintenance and structural inspection, four bells will be added to the Crouse College Bell Tower. Sala said this addition will greatly expand the musical range of the bells.

DellPlain, Haven and Flint Hall renovations: Demolition and environmental remediation are wrapping up this week. Construction for improvements to student rooms and restrooms will start in the next few days.

Falk College teaching kitchen construction: Construction of new teaching kitchens for the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics is now underway.

Grant Auditorium elevator replacement: This project is on schedule with a completion date in early August. Materials and equipment have arrived on campus and work will commence this week.

HBC elevator replacement: Work has started to replace the elevator in Huntington Beard Crouse Hall. This project will add a new stop to provide accessible service to the Gifford Auditorium level for the first time.

Link Hall accessible entry: An accessible entry on the south side of Link Hall will be built this summer following the completion of the building’s roof replacement. A ramp will be located off College Place and will augment accessible entry via Slocum Hall and the Quad 2 Parking Lot.

Quad improvement project: Fencing around the Quad is now up, which has made the area temporarily inaccessible. The installation of tent tie-downs, power, data and irrigation will start next week. Over the next three weeks, concrete trucks will make periodic stops at the Quad as the tent bases are constructed.

Roof replacements: Sala said due to the good weather in Syracuse, the roof replacement projects across campus are “making great progress.” Roof replacement at the Schine Student Center Dining Wing has been completed. Newhouse II and Falk College roofs are nearing completion. The roof replacements for the Heroy Geology Building, Link Hall and Iocolano-Petty Football Wing in Manley Field House are now underway. Next week the Flanagan Gym roof replacement will begin.

Steam projects: Steam line replacements in front of Sims Hall and then entry to the Quad 4 Parking Lot are almost done, with final restoration being completed in the next week. The work at the intersection of Waverly and Comstock avenues is well underway and on schedule for completion in early August.

Sims Hall entry stairs: After steam work is completed next to Sims Hall, the project to replace the entry stairs will start. This project will be phased entry by entry, and will continue into the fall semester.

The first of five information sessions on the summer construction projects was held on June 15. The next session is schedule for next Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Lyman Auditorium.
