Syracuse falls to North Dakota, 3-0, at War Memorial Arena

Syracuse lost, 3-0, to North Dakota on Friday afternoon. The Orange is 6-9-1 this season.

Syracuse (6-9-1, 4-1-1- College Hockey America) dropped its game against North Dakota (9-4-2, 6-4-2 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) on Friday, losing, 3-0, in its second home game at the War Memorial Arena.

Senior forward Becca Kohler scored the first goal for the Fighting Hawks 10 minutes into the 1st period.

With 24 seconds left in the 1st period, Orange senior Melissa Piacentini was called for a hooking penalty. The two-minute power play carried over into the start of the 2nd period, and 82 seconds later Fighting Hawks junior Gracen Hirschy scored another goal to put her team up, 2-0.

North Dakota added to its lead midway through the third period with junior Amy Menke’s goal.

The Orange was unable to chip into the 3-0 deficit and ended up losing by that score.



Senior goalkeeper Jenn Gilligan ended the game with 25 saves, the third-most she’s had this season.

Syracuse will look to get revenge when it plays North Dakota on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
