Syracuse lost 1-0 to No. 16 Notre Dame on Thursday night. The Orange is now 0-5 in conference games this season.

Syracuse struggled again in a 1-0 loss to Notre Dame on Thursday night, SU’s fifth straight loss.

For the eighth time this season, the Orange (4-9-1, 0-5 Atlantic Coast) was unable to score a goal, and gave up 18 shots to the No. 16 Fighting Irish (9-3-1, 2-3-0) at Alumni Stadium in South Bend, Indiana.

In the 16th minute, Notre Dame forward Sandra Yu tracked down a 25-yard cross and headed a goal toward the left post, giving the Fighting Irish all the cushion it would need.

Six of the 18 shots that Notre Dame put up came on goal. Goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan recorded five saves.

On offense, SU wasn’t able to pose much of a threat. The Orange only managed one shot in the game. The shot, which wasn’t on goal, came off the foot of freshmen forward Eva Gourdeau, who was making her first appearance of the season.

The Orange suffered back-to-back 1-0 losses for the third time this season. Through five ACC games the Orange has been outscored 13-2.

Syracuse looks to snap its losing streak on Sunday when it travels to play Pittsburgh at 1 p.m.
