Syracuse football recruiting: 4-star safety Eric Burrell chooses Wisconsin over SU

Class of 2016 four-star safety Eric Burrell verbally committed to Wisconsin, he announced in a tweet on Monday. Syracuse was included when he came out with his top five schools in September.

Duke, Nebraska and Boston College were also in Burrell’s top five but he ultimately chose the Badgers. The McDonough (Maryland) School product is ranked as the 17th-best safety in the 2016 class. He is listed at 5 feet 11 inches and 170 pounds.

Syracuse has 15 members in its 2016 class including safeties Scoop Bradshaw and Will Harper. Cornerback Monquavion Brinson has also verbally committed to the Orange.

On its current roster, SU has eight safeties including redshirt freshman Rodney Williams and sophomores Antwan Cordy and Chauncey Scissum as well as freshmen Kielan Whitner, Christopher Fredrick and Daivon Ellison.
