Syracuse will host Texas Southern in its final nonconference game on Dec. 27.

Syracuse will host Texas Southern in its final nonconference game of the season on Dec. 27, SU Athletics announced in a release on Wednesday.

The last time the two teams played in 1997, Syracuse defeated the Tigers 85-73 in the Carrier Classic. The Tigers are coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015. Texas Southern finished 22-13 in a season that included a win on the road over Michigan State. The year culminated in a Tournament loss to Arizona in the Round of 64.

Following SU’s matchup with the Tigers, the Orange will start its conference slate against Pittsburgh, and a nine-game stretch in which SU head coach Jim Boeheim will be suspended.
