Hayes McGinley

Former SU men’s lacrosse player Hayes McGinley will play for St. Joseph’s

Former Syracuse midfielder Hayes McGinley will play for Saint Joseph’s in 2016, the school announced earlier this week. He will have three seasons of eligibility left.

McGinley was suspended from the Orange’s men’s lacrosse team in March and pleaded guilty to two counts of harassment in the second degree in April.

In early August, he confirmed to The Daily Orange he was no longer enrolled at SU.

“I was not suspended from SU, nor was I kicked off the lacrosse team,” McGinley told The Daily Orange. “I am at a point where I want to explore other options for myself academically and athletically. That is why I un-enrolled at Syracuse.”

McGinley was arrested in March after punching two Insomnia Cookies employees and trying to get into a female employee’s car, insisting his friends were inside. He hit another employee before police arrived.
