Syracuse will now square off against Marist in its opening game of the NCAA tournament on Sunday.

Syracuse will not get its chance for revenge in its first-round game of the NCAA tournament.

Second-seeded SU (12-2, 2-2 Atlantic Coast) is now slated to play against Marist (14-3, 6-0 Metro Atlantic) on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome following the Red Foxes’ 10-6 win over Bryant in its play-in game.

The Bulldogs took down the Orange last year in the first round of the NCAA tournament in a 10-9 upset win. On Monday, several of Syracuse’s veterans openly welcomed a rematch with Bryant despite knowing there was no guarantee the two teams would play this year.

Marist won the MAAC by two games and led the conference with 12.12 goals per game, a 55.6 faceoff percentage and was second-best in the conference with allowing only 8.05 goals per game.
