Syracuse starts season with 3-0 road swing in Ohio

Syracuse field hockey team has started 3-0 in a four-game series in Ohio to begin its season. The fifth-ranked team in the country has defeated Ohio, Miami (Ohio) and Ohio State. 

In its Friday opener, the Orange defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 3-2 in overtime, as Emma Russell hit the winning goal just under seven minutes into overtime.

In its next game on Saturday, the Orange cruised to a 5-1 victory over Miami (Ohio). In the win, freshmen Lies Lagerweij and Annalena Ulbrich scored their first goals of their collegiate careers.

After a day off, the Orange continued its early-season winning streak in a 7-0 win over Ohio. Ulbrich collected a hat trick to continue upon her impressive debut weekend along with a two-goal performance from senior Jordan Page.

The Orange will look to stay undefeated when it travels to Kent State for a 1 p.m. matchup on Tuesday.
